The Art of Redemption

The Art of Redemption Radio -Where we Investigate the link between worldview and art In this show the hosts Cody Anderson, Daniel Uptain, and Roy Uptain examine the Arts from a biblical perspective. We take on many different philosophical and theological views and line them up with The Scripture. We pull out the error and fallacy of the secular worldview that lies within all forms of The Arts. In doing this we examine how we are to view these arts as followers of Christ and how we need to engage our culture around us. These areas of The Arts include but are not limited to: movies, music, literature, paintings, drawings, digital, and graphic design.

The summer series comes to a close in the Interviews with the Artists. In the series Cody Anderson has interviewed a wide range of popular and not so popular artists in their fields. Some of these interviews cover music, writing, design, computer animation, satire, novels, home-made music videos, orchestras, Biblical historical fiction, and more. Be sure to listen back if you haven't heard them all and let us know what you think...!

This finale episode we welcome Pastor, author, poet, musician, blogger, and debater Pastor Douglas Wilson. Pastor Wilson is the pastor of Christ Church in Moscow Idaho. His books have been largely influential in early episodes of our podcast and have helped up understand and interpret art and art culture in the world around us.

In this episode we get to know Pastor Wilson and his many fields of the arts he participates in. We talk about how long it took for him to get his first book published even though in the 6th grade he knew he "wanted to make books." There was a lot of history covered in our conversation.

As we talk about the art we hit on a couple of his writings. First the book Angels in the Architecture. What inspired the writing, what it was about, and how we can go back to a medieval mindset in not only our lives but in our understanding of the arts.

The second was an article Pastor Wilson wrote for Chronicles Magazine titled Game of Bones. In this he wrote about the empty art of Games of Thrones and other arts that are similar. They lack some key things to make it good art. We talked in depth about that idea, what makes it good art or empty art. Join us as we talk about art and art culture in this interview with the artist finale....

This episode we welcome Kent Rabalias (Rah-ba-lay) who is the Executive Director of Communication at the Village Church in Flower-mound Texas. In this episode we talk about what art Kent has been doing and does, how the church can use art in the church proper and also outside of the church community and be noticed and appreciated for being great artists.

Kent studied at Baylor and moved through many different positions to get where he is today at The Village. He always has a passion for stories and that helped him in many ways in his artistic endeavors. He has been involved in making films, both feature films and shorts. He and his creative group we recognized and won awards at the Dallas Society of Visual Communication ceremony. He helps develop others in their artistic areas as well and helps to create great content through The Village Church for their members and other viewers around the globe.

Listen in as we talk about these things and much more. And be sure to pay attention to what you can do, even in your small local church, to help use the arts to Glorify God and shine His Name to the nations around us.

This episode we welcome Stephen Altrogge a coffee master and writer of many things; books, blogs, articles, and songs. Listen in as we talk about these different things and how the approach to each is a bit different.

If you like really great coffee (and even if you don't) you can hear us talking about the amazing pour over coffee making process and how its superior to all other forms of coffee. Than we get into writing and how Stephen is a writer of many things including music.

We chat about how each of those are different and then get into a conversation about the art in general and the arts in Christendom as well. Though we both may tend to be a bit cynical there are some good things said.

Here are Stephens top reco's and Musts:

Books: 1. Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott

           2. Daily Rituals by Mason Curry

           3. by Stephen Field

4. Just start doing it, do what you want to do in the arts!
