The Art of Redemption

The Art of Redemption Radio -Where we Investigate the link between worldview and art In this show the hosts Cody Anderson, Daniel Uptain, and Roy Uptain examine the Arts from a biblical perspective. We take on many different philosophical and theological views and line them up with The Scripture. We pull out the error and fallacy of the secular worldview that lies within all forms of The Arts. In doing this we examine how we are to view these arts as followers of Christ and how we need to engage our culture around us. These areas of The Arts include but are not limited to: movies, music, literature, paintings, drawings, digital, and graphic design.

In our final episode of this series and for the year we take a look at the family friendly movie Zootopia that hit the box office this year. This movie has been a part of the lives of many kiddos and families across the country this year but what is it really teaching in its philosophies, ideologies and worldview? What is it that we are letting our kids absorb without any pushback? Is tolerance tolerable or should tolerance not be tolerated? Find out today as we look at this movie and what lies underneath it.

This week we talk about the post-modern themes hidden in the 2012 movie staring  Tom HanksHalle BerryHugh GrantCloud Atlas

We also describe a painting by David Salle titled Yellow Fellow and address its postmodern tendencies.

Relativism is the topic of the day and we talk about how it comes out in both the painting and the movie. How is it that this world-view affects us and our way of thinking?

A message titled The Challenge of Relativism by John Piper found at Desiring God really nails down some of these ideas and really sums up what we were talking about today. Listen to it and see how you feel about it.

This week we kick off a new series on Post-Modernism. What is post-modernism? What does it look like? How did post modernism become so popular in explaining reality? As we talk today about post-modernism we explore these questions and start to get to know what it is and why its so popular in our culture.

We talk about the movie Fight Club staring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton and how this shows us some ways our culture sees and does things and how we should or shouldn't adapt to this frame of mind and philosophy.

Listen in as we discuss this topic and more about post-modernism.

In this final episode of our zombie apocalypse series we interview the one and only Robert Joustra one of the authors (along with Alissa Wilkinson) of the awesome book How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse: Zombies, Cylons, Faith, and Politics at the End of the World.

We chat about what Robert would do in the case of a post-apocalyptic situation and how this book applies to us today.

Listen in and think about the the topics we address and how they can really apply to our everyday lives  the art and culture we are involved in daily effects us and we needs to be wary and cautious on how those things effect us.
